The staff was friendly and accommodating, and they went above and beyond to book a dolphin swim tour for us. The location was convenient, within walking distance to the town center and whale watch Kaikoura. I highly recommend this lodge for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

The communal kitchen at Dusky Lodge was clean and well-equipped, making it easy for me to prepare my meals. I was impressed by the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, as it was a far cry from the dirty and messy kitchens I have encountered at other hostels. The dishes were clean and properly organized, and there was ample space to prepare and cook my food.

Ample fridge space in the multiple kitchens was helpful. The outside space was great for relaxing. Enjoyed the beautiful view of the mountains.
The pools, sauna, and hot tub were closed during our stay, which was a disappointment. The carpets in the rooms were not the cleanest.

Great location, within walking distance to popular attractions and the town. Friendly staff who were welcoming and accommodating.- The spa pool was a nice social area, although it could have been hotter and more bubbly.
The kitchen was messy and not well-maintained, with dirty dishes and clutter left around. The walls were paper thin, allowing for excessive noise from neighboring rooms and outside.

The room was spacious, quiet, and warm with a large TV and a comfortable, huge bed. The free calls to New Zealand landlines were a nice touch. The hot tub and pool looked inviting, and the staff were friendly and well-informed. The communal areas were available for use after check out, and the kitchens were well-equipped. The location was convenient, with easy access to the main road, beach, grocery store, and restaurants. The staff also allowed me to wait in the lounge before check-in during a rainy arrival. a great place to explore from.
Felt exceptional, no complaints.
